Apparent Contradiction of First Law of Motion by Every day Experience

Do your everyday experience contradict Newton’s First Law of Motion?

Apparent Contradiction of First Law of Motion by Every day Experience
If we throw a ball with some velocity on the ground then according to “First Law of Motion”, it should go on rolling. But actually this seems to be against our every day experience, because after covering some distance, the ball comes to rest. In the same way, all moving bodies which arc once made to move by a force come to rest after a while. These examples apparently contradict the ‘First Law of Motion” but ‘if we: examine it closely then we conclude that these observations support First Law of Motion.
Reason given by Newton is very simple. He explains that two forces are acting on the ball to oppose its motion i.e. the resistance of air and friction of the ground and they go on reducing the velocity of the ball till it comes to rest. If we remove these two opposing forces then the ball will continue moving forever in a straight line.
