What are core binders?
Core Binder
Core binders may be of organic and inorganic types. The organic binders are oils, cereal pitch, dextrine molasses and resin powder and oil both)., The other type of binders are fire clay and silica flour. Resin-bonded cores have a tendency to distort allowed to set over a long period of time.
Such cores can baked at low temperature and generate less amount of gases during, casting. Resin added to oil banded cores helps in their quick drying and easy shake out from castings. Molasses bonds give very hard surface baking. Oils of both mineral and vegetable are in more common use. Linseed and corn oil oxidize readily at temperature of about 200 C and get a plastic like form which is quite hard. On the other hand mineral oils obtain solidity by the chemical conversion of compounds (polymerization) at higher temperatures.
