Difference Between the Weight of a body At Poles And Equator
Weight of a body is greater at the poles than at the equator. The reason is that the earth is flattened at the poles and bulges out at the equator. So the distance of the equator from the centre of the earth is greater than that of the poles. Therefore according to Newton’s Law of Gravitation the gravitational pull on a body on the poles is greater than at the equator.
