Statement of Newton’s First Law of Motion

Statement of Newton’s First Law of Motion
Newton’s First Law of Motion states that: Everybody continues in its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by an external force.

Explanation
First Law of Motion consists of two parts:

First Part of the Law:
The first part of the law gives us an idea that a body at rest will continue to be in the state of rest. It can be easily observed in our daily life. A book lying in a shelf remains at rest in its position unless somebody removes it by applying a force.

Second Part of the Law:
The second part of the law states that a body in motion will continue moving with uniform velocity in a straight line unless some external force acts upon it. It means that if a body is set in motion, it will go on moving forever.
