Village Uplift

English Essay on "Village Uplift" - Composition on "Village Uplift"

The typical Pakistani village is a cluster of madhouses with narrow muddy paths arid lanes winding through it. There are practically no arrangements for sanitation. Dirty water collects in pools everywhere. Diseases and epidemics kill hundreds of persons every year.

The farmers and artisans who inhabit the villages are poor, uneducated and backward. Struggle and misery are their lot. The landlords the money lenders and the petty government officials exploit them in every way they like.

The villagers have been suffering in misery and poverty for centuries. They work hard but their hard work brings them no profit. Most of the villagers have not heard of the things that are taken for granted in big cities.educationsight.blogspot.com It is a pity that Independence has not made much difference to their lot. No doubt that the villagers are conservative since most of them still believe that what was good for their forefathers is good enough for them. It is a wrong attitude hut we cannot blame them for it. They are ignorant and the misery and injustice of so many centuries have cruelly destroyed their will to rise. It is the duty of the nation as a whole to educate and help and improve the people who are the backbone of our country.

Pakistan was not created for the benefit of a few persons. It is the home of a nation, the major part of which lives is villages. Its resources are not for the profit of a few families. It is a welfare state where every citizen must get the fruits of his hard work and struggle. We are a proud nation and we wish to be strong and prosperous. But wishes win no victories unless we use all of our energies and resources for the fulfillment of our dreams.

We must remember that there is no short-cut to prosperity. We must work and work hard to better the condition of our rural population. We must do everything to make the farmers progressive. We must make them proud of their work. A few well-planned cities and a few very rich persons will never bring honor and strength to Pakistan. We must look after and help the seventy five percent of our nation if we are to be proud of ourselves. The challenge is great. Our survivals as a free and strong nation depend on accepting and meeting this challenge boldly and resolutely. Our progress may be painfully slow but there is no substitute for hard work.
