Syed Ahmad Khan was born on 17th October 1817 at Delhi. His father Mir Muuaqi was a simple man. His mother was also very pious ,simple and learned woman She trained him very nicely and taught him Urdu Arabic and Persian . After completing the Holy Quran Syed was sent in a Madrsa where he studies Mathematic and Tib. He was nineteen years old when he gave up his studies. His father died in 1838 and his pension was stopped. Syed Ahmad Khan began to work with his uncle.who was SaderAmin in the Court. When he picked up some routine work he was appointed as Sreshtedar in the Criminal Court.

In 1838 he was appointed Assistant clerk in Agra Commissioner and after knowing all the Revenue laws he set the working of his office very well. At the same time he prepared a digest of civil laws in connection with Munsifs court so that he may be selected for the munsifs post. The digest was submitted by the Commissioner to the government.educationsight.blogspot.com He was allowed to appear in the Munsifs examination and after passing the examination he was first appointed Munsif in Mainpuri and in 1842 he was transferred to Fatehpur Sekri. At this time Sii Syed issued three Magazines comprising of the life of Holy Prophet. Sir Syed was awarded the title of his father “jawaduddla” Arif-c-jung.

On 18th February 1846 Sir Syed was transferred to Delhi . Here Sir Syed read Fiqa and Hadis from Molvi Nazish Ali Molvi Faizul Hassan.

On 13thjanuary 1853 he was transferred to Bijnor as SaddarAmin . After four years the Mutiny of 1857 started and Sir Syed saved the lives of many European. In April 1858 he was appointed as Saderussudoor and posted at Muradabad and became an Indian member of the special commission set up for the confiscation of the zamidaries of traitors. He started a poor house at Muradabad where he himself distributed the food among poor persons in 1862 he was transferred to Ghazipur and then to Aligarh where he shifted the scientific society with its staff and equipment. There was s great progress in the work of society here and many English book were translated in to Urdu and published under auspices of society with a weekly paper which was turned into Aligarh Instkute Gazette.

On 15th August 1867 Sir Syed was appointed as a judge of Small Causes Court of Banars , on the 1st August 1867, Sir Syed sent an application to the Viceroy of India for the change of system of education in the Indian universities.

After some years as a member of legislative council of the viceroy Sir Syed opposed the intoduction of Hindi in place of Urdu and Persian. For the welfare of Muslims of India he wanted to go to England to know the system of education and then to establish a Muslim university. For this purpose he sold his library , and mortgaged movable property and left for England on 1st April 1869 with his two sons Syed Hamid and Syed Mahmood. He stayed there for seventeen months and worked hard for fulfillment of mission. On 6th August 1869 he was presented a title of C.S.I. in Indian office.

He visited Cambridge University and the libraries of England. On 2nd October 1870 he retuned from England and took charge of his post in Banaras. After that he began struggling for completion of his mission .He started a paper Tahzebul Akhlaq for reform of religious ideas of Muslims and formed a committee in Banaras for the progress of the education of Muslims of India.

In February 1873 it was decided to establish a Madrasatul ulooni and 24th of May 1875 was fixed for the opening ceremony of Madrasa. From 18th June 1875 the education began in classes. In July 1876 he left the services and came to Aligarh for complete devotion of his mission . In 1877 the foundation stone of the college was laid with great pomp and show Sir Syed introduced system of education in Aligarh College just on the lines of Cambridge and oxford university’s he had seen in England.

After a short period the MO college Aligarh was turned into Muslim University Aligarh where millions of Muslim built their career in the real scenes of the word.

Aligarh degree holders are now seen every where in the nook and corner of Thdo-Pakistan continent enjoying the full confidence of real life you may see Aligns in foreign countries also who are perfect in every sphere of life. Sir Syed died in 1899 at the age of 82 years. His body was laid down in the mosque of University. May God bless him.
